Kingswood is a venue for horse people, owned and run by horse people.
Over the 30 years of the centre there isn’t much we haven’t turned our hand to – and as active competitors we certainly understand it from your point of view.
Nicky and Rob have spent more than 20 years developing the centre to have the right blend facilities to cater for everyone from leisure riders to international competitors.
Horses always come first at Kingswood.
Kingswood began with just a few family horses and a large field back in 1987.
Over the next years the herd of horses grew and facilities were added and a riding school began. BHS Approval soon followed and Kingswood became the centre of choice for riding instruction for local schools and universities alike. An apprenticeship programme began and Kingswood became the first riding school in the UK to be awarded the prestigious Investor In People accolade.
Nearly 15 years ago the riding school closed and the centre began to develop and focus on sport, liveries and competitions.
We have continued ever since, streamlining the business to concentrate on what we do best with the welfare of all horses on site and visiting the centre as the focus.
Key staff you can rely on to ensure both the safety of your horses and the enjoyment of your leisure time.
With decades of experience at top sport level in both dressage and showjumping, we work closely with all stakeholders to ensure a first class service.
A former amateur show jumper, Rob focusses on providing support to the team at Kingswood.
Having qualified as a Medical biochemist he takes a keen interest in all performance related matters – both rider and horse. Cavalor Direct is the UK’s largest retailer of Cavalor supplements and feed and Rob works directly with Cavalor on sport and racing projects.
Nicky is in charge of horses and training at the centre. She is an experienced international rider and European championship level trainer. She is a BHSII qualified instructor.
Nicky has 5 European championships under her belt as a trainer of both Ponies and Paras alongside numerous national successes at all levels.
Gemma is responsible for the centre admin as well as dealing with telephone enquiries from almost anyone about almost anything!
She also manages the treadmill department and has built up years of experience working with horses on the road to recovery or enhanced performance through our aqua treadmill programme.
Izzy has a wealth of experience beyond her years having competed at 3 European Championships – being the first GB rider to do so on 3 different ponies.
She finished 10th at the 2019 European Championships in Poland.
We are always looking for the next great member of our growing team.
If that sounds like you then send your CV over using the form.
We work with the following companies through our sport programme and massively appreciate the support they give us.
To receive help and support from anyone in this day is a bonus, but to be working with these class leading companies really is a blessing.
